BNET Signs Agreement with Diyar Al Muharraq to Develop Fixed Telecommunications Infrastructure

Bahrain National Broadband Network (BNET), the national company responsible for providing broadband network services in the Kingdom of Bahrain signed a partnership agreement with Diyar Al Muharraq, to establish a fixed telecommunications infrastructure across the entire development.

The virtual signing ceremony was held on September 8, 2020 and signed by BNET Chief Executive Officer – Mohamed Bubashait and Diyar Al Muharraq CEO – Eng. Ahmed Alammadi. The ceremony took place in the presence of a number of representatives from both parties. 

The project is being carried out in multiple phases, and is scheduled to be completed by 2028, with 5 phases of the project having been completed till date. As a result of the agreement, BNET will enable licensed operators to deploy their services across the infrastructure, enabling residents of Diyar Al Muharraq to select their operator of choice.

Commenting on the occasion, CEO of BNET, Mohamed Bubashait said, “We are very pleased to be partnering with Diyar Al Muharraq in a strategic agreement that falls in line with our vision to build an integrated broadband network infrastructure across the Kingdom. At BNET, it is of great importance to us to be able to provide residents of all regions with access to our high-speed network services, and we are pleased to have Diyar Al Muharraq join our growing network. We are proud of this partnership and we look forward to completing all phases of the undertaking, in order to ensure connectivity across the entire development.”

Commenting on this occasion, Eng. Ahmed Alammadi, CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq, said: “It is our pleasure to enter this strategic partnership with Bahrain Network (BNET), the Kingdom’s authorized broadband provider, to handle the construction of the telecommunication network and the laying of the fiber optics throughout the city of Diyar Al Muharraq. BNET will be the network provider for all broadband services in the city including Hai Al Noor, Hai Al Sherooq, Sarat, Deerat Al Oyoun, Al Qamra, Al Bareh, Dragon City Bahrain and Dragon City Apartments. As a wholesale provider, BNET provides its services to the Kingdom’s telecommunication companies, enabling property holders in the city to subscribe to broadband service through their preferred service provider.”

He added: “This cooperation comes in line with our efforts to build a fully integrated and high-quality infrastructure, to provide our residents with all their needs. We are proud to work with BNET and look forward to delivering high-speed internet solutions to all residential and commercial developments throughout the city.”
